It is a government hospital so expect to wait for a while unless it's an emergency of course. It's about a 5-10 minute drive away without any traffic. If you travel by taxi then you'll need to tell the driver "Rongprayah Baan Siriraj" "rom-pr-eye-ah-barn" and he'll know straight away. It is by far the most famous hospital in Thailand. Private Hospital If you want to go to a private hospital then "St. Louis Hospital" on "Sathorn Road" is probably the best one you'll find. All members of staff can speak English and it is reasonably priced. It is quite far from the Khao San area but worth it if you want to be seen by a knowledgeable professional without being over-charged or given unnecessary treatment. You are permitted 30 days via entry at an airport but when you cross the border to another country on a day trip to extend your visa, you are only permitted an extra 15 days instead of 30 days. You can obtain a holiday visa by visiting the Thai consulates in the respective countries. At the Laos border most Nationals will have to Pay 1500 Baht for the Laotian visa. Most travel agents will be able to organize your whole trip. This is probably the best thing to do if you have no knowledge of where you are going or what you are doing. WARNING: Do not accept any offer of a visa without having to travel to the border. It has been known that people have acquired these FALSE STAMPS and have found themselves serving a prison sentence.
